Los Angeles Zoo & Botanical Garden

What a great way to start the New Year!  On the first day of 2013, my family and I went to the Los Angeles Zoo.  We love this zoo!  The park is open daily from 10am - 5pm, and for me, it is just the right amount of time to spend an afternoon at the zoo and really enjoying myself with my family.

We have been to the San Diego Zoo and the Safari Park San Diego so many times and we love it there.  Both parks are so huge that even if we try to see most of the shows and exhibits in both parks, we still miss probably about 1/3 of both parks.  But, at the Los Angeles Zoo, we were able to see all the exhibits and shows and still have time to go to a couple of other places while in L.A.

We love going to the zoo! It's very educational and rewarding to learn about the animals and it's environment.  My kids like to see different kinds of animals.  My son loves to walk around the zoo and see some of his favorite animals, from the elephants, to the giraffes, the monkey and to the zebras.

The L.A. Zoo has a new exhibit called LAIR (Living Amphibians, Invertebrates, and Reptiles).  It houses probably over 60 species from around the world.  There are six exhibit areas in the LAIR that houses unique and endangered amphibian, invertebrate and reptilian species.  We saw the Fiji Island iguana, California king snake, desert hairy scorpion, and poison dart frog to name a few.

L.A. Zoo is also a Botanical Garden.  There are a lot of beautiful plants and shady trees everywhere in the zoo.  The gardens are full and lush, it makes a great shade and keeps those paths along the way cooler, even during the summer time.

The way the park is designed, it's so easy to walk around and see the animals up close.  We were so lucky during our visit because almost all the animals were out and about.  We were able to see them upclose.  The park is also well maintained and well staffed with people willing to answer questions.
We will definetely come back to visit the LA Zoo again and again.

Visiting Leesburg Virginia and Washington DC

Town of Leesburg, Virginia is our gateway to some great historical places, national landmarks, and museums in nearby places such as Washington D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland.  We have been to Virginia many times before, as party of 2, then 3, then 4, and now as party of 5.

Good Eats in NYC!

While visiting +New York City, I've learned that it is an absolute must to try these four things: New York style pizza, a bagel, Black and White Cookie and of course, cheesecake.  And that's exactly what we did.  The places we've gone were only in our budget, and it was still such a treat and a delight to go to these places and try some of their best creations.

Olé! Spain Delishop

Spanish cuisine is one of my favorite foods.  I remember growing up and my mom would prepare Spanish dishes for us like the Spanish Paella, empanadas, tapas jamon, chorizo, Spanish omelet and a lot more.  On special occasions like birthdays and holidays, she would always have a Spanish dish or two on our table.  That's how I've come to learn to love Spanish food.

Makino Sushi & Seafood Buffet

My husband has been raving about Makino Sushi & Seafood Buffet in Irvine for months now.  He and his coworkers had lunch at Makino a few months ago and they all had very good things to say about the place.  For $16.95 lunch with all-you-can eat sushi and seafood buffet, he says it's a pretty good deal.

Bowers Kidseum

We spent an enjoyable afternoon at the Bowers Kidseum in Santa Ana, which is part of Orange County's Bowers Museum. This place is more than an exhibit hall. This amazing center is designed for youth ages 6 to 12 as a place where children can learn about world cultures, music, arts, and history through interactive, hands-on exhibits.

Hen House Grill

Hen House Grill is an authentic Persian restaurant located in Irvine, right next to Wholesome Choice market.  The first time I came to this place, I was so surprised to see how it has all Persian decors.  Luckily, their menu has big photos of the food they serve.  It makes it easier to visualize what to order and they all look so delicious!

A Taste of Vietnamese Cuisine

Vietnamese Cuisine is probably one of the healthiest cuisine in the world.  Their traditional cooking is greatly admired for its fresh ingredients, and reliance on herbs and vegetables, which is reflective of the people's lifestyle, from the preparation to how the food is served.  The food may look simple, but it creates a balance and rich in flavor.

Disneyland After Dark

We are excited to visit Disneyland after dark.  It's our favorite time to explore the park during late summer time.  Usually, we go in the daytime and stay until sun dusk.  But on our recent visits, we have been going to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure after dark and we love it!

ZCafe by ZPizza

We have rediscovered ZPizza and its new concept, ZCafe by ZPizza at South Coast Plaza.  We were frequent customers a few years ago, but at a different location.  Ever since ZCafe took over the old spot of CPK Express in Crystal Court wing on the third floor a few years ago, we have always been intrigued by what ZCafe's new concept is all about.  We never really stopped to check out their food. But, on our recent visit at the mall, we've come to try their food. I'm so glad we did. Their food is creative, healthy and fresh!

Delmonico's Steak & Lobster House

Our dear friends invited us to their daughter's baptism and the reception was held at Delmonico's Steak and Lobster House in Encino, CA.  This place must be one of their favorite restaurants.  It's our second time we have come to Delmonico's on their behalf.  Well, I'm with them ... this place is fantastic!  This is the kind of restaurant I love to indulge myself with great food and excellent service.

St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort

Summer is all about having fun in the sun, going to the beach and the pool, traveling with families and friends, and going to a nice and beautiful beach resort to relax and have a good time.  Luckily, my family and I didn't have to go far far away to have an amazing weekend of luxury and exclusivity.  It only took us half an hour to be at St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort, an amazing resort destination.  Thanks to Voit, we are so thrilled to have the pleasure of staying at this beautiful resort.  Everything about St. Regis is luxury at its best!
